Montgomery County has chosen not to keep the pool open during the summer. So, Piney Branch Pool will close at the end of June, and reopen on August 31, 2009. Thank you for making this year so successful, and helping encourage the County Council to let us manage the pool again next year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Will my child be allowed in the deep end?

Answer: Children will be asked to take a swim test if they want to go into the deep end. If they pass the test, the lifeguards will record the child’s name and they will be allowed in the deep end, which has two waterslides!

Question: Do I have to go in the water with my child?

Answer: If your child passes the swim test, you do not have to go into the water with your child. You can watch from the bleachers on the pool deck.

Question: Can my swim team or club rent lanes for private use?

Answer: Answer: Yes! Contact Joyce Seamens at 301-565-0190 or e-mail PoolProgram@acsgw.org.

Question: How old do you have to be to swim without an adult at the pool?

Answer:  High school students can swim without an adult if they present a school ID.

Question: Are there locker rooms?

Answer: Yes! There are hot showers, bathrooms, hand dryers, and cubbies (no locks) in the men’s and women’s locker rooms.

Question: Are kickboards and noodles allowed in the pool?

Answer: Yes! Swimming aids are allowed, as long as the pool is not too crowded. The lifeguards reserve the right to clear the pool of noodles, etc, if the pool gets too crowded.

Question: How shallow is the shallow end?

Answer: The shallow end is over three feet, so very small children will need an adult in the pool with them.
